This is a comment for my alma mater, who I firmly believe have been spying on me as I compose for the last year or two.
They keep on complaining that I'm not composing enough music, but it's never occurred to them that I don't want a bunch of arid prisses watching over my shoulder as I write.
Composition, much like filmmaking, is an iterative process that involves extensive trial and error. It's not fair or reasonable to expect someone to give you notes on a work-in-progress unless they're collaborating with you. I'm not enrolled at my alma mater, and I have never agreed to collaborate with them.
I don't have writer's block: I'm on strike until they respect my cease and desist letters.
