The Cottage of the Vanished Wizard – Chapter 53: The Road That Finally Had a Beginning – Part 2: The Beginning That Was Waiting at the End Create a 4:3 realistic painterly fantasy storybook illustration, highly detailed, atmospheric, with soft volumetric magical light. REFERENCE IMAGES — use in this order: 1. CR-01a – Mara: preserve her exact established adult appearance: golden-blonde hair, blue eyes, freckles, green tunic, belt, dark trousers, brown boots. 2. CR-21 – Eldran: preserve his exact established appearance: blond hair, full blond beard, mature face, brown-grey layered tunic, wrapped waist sash, brown trousers and boots. 3. Chapter 53 Part 1 image: preserve the established Cottage atmosphere and visual style. Scene inside the Cottage preparation room. Mara and Eldran stand facing a large rectangular section of wall that has magically become transparent like an open window into another place. It is still clearly part of the Cottage wall, not a normal window and not yet a door. Beyond the transparent wall lies an ancient pale-stone road running between quiet fields beneath a blue-grey morning sky. A distant village is barely visible. Beside the road stands an old wooden sign facing partly away. An adult male traveller in a long brown travelling coat is running urgently toward the transparent wall. He carries a leather satchel and holds up a small circular silver token with a hole through its centre. Behind him, the road is disappearing piece by piece. Individual pale paving stones simply cease to exist, leaving bare earth while the surrounding fields remain unchanged. Make this magical disappearance clearly visible. Inside the Cottage, Mara watches the approaching traveller with alert curiosity. Eldran stands beside her with sudden recognition and concern. In Eldran’s hand is another matching silver circular token, faintly glowing. Lumio, the small magical floating light/device, hovers nearby and projects a subtle magical message: ROUTE TOKENS — THREE CONFIRMED The preparation room should contain old wooden shelves, books, unusual magical objects and warm amber interior light, contrasting with the cool mysterious landscape beyond the transparent wall. Emphasize the impossible connection between warm Cottage interior and ancient outdoor road, the running traveller, the matching silver tokens, and the road vanishing behind him. No carriage. No horses. No modern objects. No extra prominent characters. Bottom right: small white unicorn emblem with AI by Unicorngraphics.

The Road That Finally Had a Beginning Part 2 The Beginning That Was Waiting at the End
“Never say that,” Mara said. “Why?” Sir Fegelot asked. Lumio chimed. Mara closed her eyes. “That.” NEW RECORD DETECTED. “Of course.” A sheet of paper slid beneath the Cottage door. Mara picked it up. ORIGINAL JOURNEY — COMPLETE. Beneath it appeared: ORIGINAL DESTINATION — RELEASED. Eldran exhaled. Even the Cottage gave a relieved creak. Then a third line wrote itself. ROAD ORIGIN — NOW ACCESSIBLE. Mara’s smile disappeared. Eldran leaned over her shoulder. “I thought the road had no beginning.” “It didn’t,” Serenna said. From somewhere deep inside the Cottage came the slow sound of wheels turning across stone. Everyone turned toward the preparation room. A thin golden line had appeared beneath its far wall. Lumio flashed: NEW ROUTE — OPENING. Mara looked at Serenna. “Please don’t say what I think you’re going to say.” Serenna watched the golden line widen. “The journey has ended.” “That part I liked.” “Which means the road is no longer required to remember its destination.” Serenna pointed toward the wall. “It can finally remember where it came from.” The Cottage whispered, “Mara?” “Yes?” “There is a road inside me.” Mara sighed. “Naturally.” Behind the preparation-room wall, the wheels stopped. Three knocks followed. Nobody moved. Sir Fegelot rolled backward. “I would like to revise my earlier statement about being finished.” “Revision accepted.” Three more knocks sounded directly behind the wall. Dust trembled from the shelves. Lumio scanned the plaster. STRUCTURE — PRESENT. ROUTE — PRESENT. COMPATIBILITY — NONE. “So there is a road behind a wall that definitely exists,” Mara said. “And there is no room for the road.” Lumio flashed: CORRECT. “Wonderful.” Liora placed her hand against the wall. “It’s warm.” Eldran pulled her gently back. “The Waiting Place did that before a new entrance appeared.” The golden line climbed both sides of the wall. It formed a tall rectangle, but no door appeared. Instead the plaster within the outline became transparent. Beyond it lay a road paved with pale stone. This road climbed gently between fields beneath a blue-grey morning sky. Far away stood something that might have been a village. A wooden sign leaned beside the road, facing away from them. Mara stared through the wall. “That looks disappointingly normal.” “Do not insult it,” Tiktora said. “After everything else, I expected at least two moons.” Sir Fegelot nodded. “Or an unnecessarily dramatic mountain.” Lumio floated toward the transparent wall. ORIGIN ROUTE — CONFIRMED. RECORD AGE — UNAVAILABLE. Eldran stepped beside Mara. “I know this road.” Serenna looked sharply at him. “From the carriage?” “No.” He shook his head. “From before.” Mara turned. “Before you and our newly arrived nameless friend started travelling?” The nameless traveller looked up. “I know it too.” Eldran stared at him. “You remember?” “Not where it leads. But I remember walking beside you.” “Before the carriage?” “Yes.” Serenna frowned. “Then the carriage wasn’t the beginning of the journey.” “Apparently our road has been lying about more than its age,” Mara said. Lumio flashed: CORRECTION — CARRIAGE JOURNEY WAS SECOND STAGE. Sir Fegelot tilted slightly. “There was a first stage?” Another line appeared. FIRST STAGE — ON FOOT. Mara looked through the wall. “At least the horses get the morning off.” The Cottage creaked. “Someone is coming.” On the road beyond the transparent wall, a small figure had appeared near the distant village. It walked toward them. ACCESS Tiktora’s ticking accelerated. “Can it see us?” The figure stopped and raised one hand. Mara stared. “I’m going with yes.” It was not a wave. The figure held its palm toward them as though telling them to stay where they were, then pointed toward the unseen side of the road. Lumio scanned. SIGNAL — WARNING. “I liked waving better,” Sir Fegelot said. The figure suddenly ran toward them. Behind it, the road began disappearing. Not fading like the golden road had. Each paving stone simply ceased to exist. The fields remained untouched, leaving a widening strip of bare earth where the road had been. “That seems bad,” Avena said. “We have developed an excellent instinct for these things,” Mara replied. The runner was closer now: a young adult man in a long brown travelling coat. He carried a leather satchel and clutched something silver in one hand. Eldran stepped forward. “I know him.” “Name?” Mara asked. Eldran shook his head. “No.” The nameless traveller beside him whispered, “Neither do I.” Mara glanced between them. “You two are remarkably bad at introductions.”
