Standing in the dark my knife in hand and not being able to see what was at the cave entrance I desperately started searching for my flashlight. I found it and turned the light on pointing it at the entrance. Standing in the entrance was a startled bear that ran off down the tunnel as soon as I shined the light on him. The bear went in the direction I needed to go so I decided to wait to go down the tunnel. I sat down in the cave flashlight in one hand and my knife in the other turning the flashlight on and off every 10 minutes just to see if the bear had come back.
