The Other Side

More about The Other Side

A surreal painting depicts a pale-skinned girl with short, straight red hair kneeling by a circular stone well, her reflection perfectly mirrored in the still water below. She wears a simple long-sleeved peach-colored dress. Her right hand gently touches the surface of the water, creating ripples that distort her reflected hand. The well is made of rough-hewn, light brown and gray stones, set into a landscape of rolling hills with patches of dry grass and scattered thin, bare-branched trees in muted greens and browns. The background above the girl features a dark teal night sky filled with numerous small, twinkling yellow stars, a large, bright full moon on the left, and a partial, golden crescent moon in the upper right corner. The bottom half of the image mirrors the top, showing the reflected landscape, trees, stars, and celestial bodies upside down beneath the well. The reflected girl looks up, her face partially obscured by her hair.
