Chapter 32 – The Place Mistmoor Was Built to Forget – Part 2 – The Morksik Who Remembered the Rain REFERENCE IMAGES — use in this exact order: CR-M1 – Morksik — exact established appearance, species, anatomy, face, clothing, equipment and adult size. CR-M4 – Hopsy — exact established kangaroo appearance, large pouch with travelling objects and golden lantern. CR-M17 – Eldren — exact established mature appearance, grey hair, beard, face and clothing. Realistic painterly fantasy storybook illustration, 4:3 landscape. Inside the same warm wooden house, show exactly five visible characters: Morksik, an older Morksik, Hopsy, Eldren and the elderly Keeper. Morksik must be copied faithfully from CR-M1. Keep his exact species, head shape, ears, face, body proportions, clothing, backpack and equipment. Beside him appears an older version of the same Morksik. The older Morksik has exactly the same species and anatomy as CR-M1, clearly recognizable as Morksik many years later. His fur is greyer, his face more weathered, his clothing older and worn, and a small pale scar crosses his forehead. His body is partly translucent and surrounded by soft silver mist. He is not human. Hopsy stands nearby, matching CR-M4 faithfully as a kangaroo. Preserve her large pouch containing her established travelling objects and her glowing golden lantern. Eldren stands beside her holding his unfolded map, matching CR-M17 faithfully. The Keeper is an elderly silver-haired woman in a dark green coat with a small wooden key hanging around her neck. Behind the older Morksik appears a large ghostly memory vision of Mistmoor during heavy rain. Crooked village houses surround the Ancient Well, which glows with pale silver light. The vision floats magically inside the room. An empty wooden chair remains beside the older Morksik. On the table stands one mysterious old lamp with a dark flame edged by silver light. Warm fireplace glow contrasts with cold silver memory light. Rain exists only inside the magical memory and around the translucent older Morksik; the wooden room remains dry. Strong character fidelity, cinematic composition, soft volumetric lighting, detailed realistic painterly fantasy storybook style. Exactly five visible characters only: Morksik, older Morksik, Hopsy, Eldren and Keeper. No additional people or creatures. Both Morksiks share the exact species and anatomy of CR-M1. No readable text, no side text. Small white full-body unicorn with “AI by Unicorngraphics” discreetly bottom-right.

“Morksik.” Eldren said the name again, as though repeating it might make the map correct itself. It did not. The seventh line remained. Morksik looked at the empty chair. “I don’t remember sitting there.” Borstel edged away from it. “That is not as comforting as you think.” Hopsy raised her golden lantern. Its light passed over the chair, but a second shadow appeared beneath it. Archivara opened her book. SEVENTH TRAVELLER — MORKSIK. Beneath it came another line. PRESENT BEFORE ARRIVAL. “That is worse,” Borstel said. The Keeper stood beside the extinguished lamp. “You must not light it again.” “Why?” Morksik asked. “Because it does not contain a memory of you.” “Then whose memory?” She hesitated. “Yours.” Morksik frowned. “That answer contradicts itself.” “Only if you believe you began where you remember beginning.” The returned traveller touched the cord around their wrist. “Listen to her.” Morksik glanced at them. “You knew?” “I suspected when I saw you.” “Why?” “Because I remembered your voice.” Silence filled the room. Borstel stared at Morksik. “Could someone explain how a traveller from the first journey remembers him?” The returned traveller looked toward the empty chair. “Someone spoke to us from the well before we departed.” Eldren’s map trembled. A circle formed around Morksik’s name. VOICE — BEFORE JOURNEY. “And you think it was me?” Morksik asked. “I know it was.” Hopsy placed her lantern on the table. “What did the voice say?” “Do not let Mistmoor remember the rain.” Grimmeldorn’s moss rose along his shoulders. “Rain again.” The Keeper closed her eyes. “You should not have said that.” A drop of water struck the table. Everyone looked up. The ceiling was dry. Another drop landed on Archivara’s book. Letters appeared around it. RAIN — MEMORY ACTIVE. Borstel climbed onto a chair. “Why does the dangerous memory have weather?” Morksik touched a drop. It was cold. The room vanished. For one heartbeat he stood in Mistmoor beneath a black sky. Rain poured across the village. The Ancient Well stood open, silver light rising from it. Someone shouted, “Close it!” Then the house returned. Morksik pulled his hand away. “I saw the well.” The Keeper stared at him. “What else?” “Someone told me to close it.” “Who?” “I couldn’t see.” Hopsy looked toward the dark lamp. “Then we need to see more.” “No,” the Keeper said. “That is exactly what the First Witness wants to prevent,”
