Prompt

Churrigueresque Psychosomatic Magicalism · Medicine Wheel · Kalachakra · Modernismo · Cosmic Surrealism Create an extraordinary, hyperrealistic, panoramic surrealist painting depicting an immense metaphysical labyrinth where consciousness, memory, architecture, and time interpenetrate. At the upper centre, an elderly Black mystic with deeply weathered features, short grey hair, and a pointed white beard emerges from a luminous circular architectural opening. His enormous hand reaches toward the viewer in dramatic foreshortened perspective, fingers extended in a mysterious gesture of invitation. His richly patterned multicoloured garment dissolves into the surrounding mosaic structures. At the left, a monumental, pale turquoise female face emerges from swirling concentric fields of vermilion, ochre, emerald, and cobalt. Her enormous dark eye gazes upward in astonishment, while her neck and shoulders merge seamlessly into the surrounding geometric landscape. At the centre foreground, a small enigmatic figure wearing a carved jack-o’-lantern head and an elaborate patchwork coat stands with arms extended upon a fragmented black-and-ivory checkerboard pathway. A mysterious black cat accompanies the figure. The pathway transforms into floating architectural blocks, impossible staircases, and flooded village streets. At the right, weathered houses with irregular tiled roofs stand beneath a luminous moon. Solitary robed figures wander through shallow reflective water. An antique streetlamp illuminates the deserted village, while an enigmatic suspended mechanical talisman hangs overhead. Visual composition: Multiple independent centres of visual gravity create an intricate, non-Euclidean environment. Recursive architectural structures unfold across different scales and orientations. Checkerboard geometries fracture into curved surfaces, mosaic fragments, impossible perspectives, and flowing spatial distortions. Human anatomy becomes architecture; architecture becomes landscape; landscape becomes abstract geometry. Artistic treatment: Psychedelic surrealist maximalism, Catalan Modernisme, Byzantine mosaics, visionary symbolism, expressionist distortion, intricate tessellated surfaces, weathered fresco textures, dramatic chiaroscuro, luminous atmospheric perspective, cinematic depth, painterly realism, and extraordinary microscopic detail. Colour palette: Burnt vermilion, antique gold, ochre, turquoise, deep cobalt, oxidized copper, emerald green, ivory, charcoal, and basalt black. Richly saturated colours contrast with muted architectural passages and luminous celestial highlights. Composition: Asymmetrical, multidirectional, immersive, densely detailed, with sweeping movement and profound spatial depth. Preserve ambiguity between foreground and background, interior and exterior, human and architectural forms. Every contour participates in multiple visual interpretations, allowing the viewer to continually discover previously unnoticed relationships. Panoramic 16:9 composition. Extraordinary high-resolution textures. No text, no lettering, no numbers, no signatures, no watermarks, no conventional mandalas, no separate panels, no decorative frames.

PART ONE — THE MAN WHO OWNED YESTERDAY

Nobody knew exactly when the old man arrived. The municipal records said 1847, but the municipality hadn’t been invented until 1923, and the clerk who entered the date had been dead since the Punic Wars.

The old man called himself Professor Ezekiel Nobody.

He had been a pharaoh, a railroad porter, a West African astronomer, a Mississippi conjure doctor, and, briefly, the assistant manager of a metaphysical insurance company in Newark.

His specialty was repossessing stolen realities.

You see, sometime around the invention of private property, a consortium of European metaphysicians had discovered that reality could be subdivided, mortgaged, and sold to people who didn’t know they already owned it.

The operation was tremendously profitable.

First they sold the land. Then they sold the sky. Then they sold the idea of God, collecting royalties every Sunday.

Eventually they got around to selling time.

That’s when the trouble started.

The Professor had discovered that yesterday was being manufactured in a secret factory beneath the Vatican, packaged in little cardboard boxes, and shipped around the world as authentic historical experience.

Naturally, most people believed the labels.

But the Professor had a problem.

His left hand existed in tomorrow.

His right hand existed in 1492.

And the rest of him was trapped in a town where the streets had been designed by an architect who had failed elementary geometry.

He reached toward the inhabitants.

“COME HERE,” he said.

Nobody moved.

The woman with the turquoise face had been staring upward for three centuries. She had once been a perfectly ordinary librarian until she discovered that the books were reading her.

Every time she opened a volume, another century disappeared.

Eventually she became the library.

Her neck turned into corridors. Her hair became staircases. Her thoughts circulated through enormous architectural spirals.

She had been waiting for someone to explain the situation.

Meanwhile, a small gentleman with a pumpkin for a head stood in the town square wearing a patchwork overcoat.

His name was Mr. October.

He was the provisional governor of the Department of Unfinished Reincarnations.

His black cat was the actual governor.

This arrangement had worked satisfactorily for eleven thousand years.

The Professor pointed toward the flooded streets.

“Somebody’s been tampering with the machinery of existence.”

Mr. October nodded.

“That’s what happens when you privatize eternity.”

The cat yawned.

And somewhere beneath the checkerboard pavement, the ancient machinery began turning backward.
