A meadow on the banks of the Scheldt near Antwerp. The river bends towards the background, so that the view of it is interrupted by some trees on the right and can only be seen again in the distance.

Opposite him are the Brabant counts and nobles, squires and people, headed by Friedrich von Telramund, and at his side Ortrud. The middle is an open circle.
