ArtistA big pile of dictionaries, all in tatty and abused condition.
An idiolect is a personal dialect. We all have special custom words that we use in local contexts. We start with a couple : AUTOLECT and ATTENTION.
"Autolect" is I believe a better fit than "Idiolect" for one's custom local vocabulary, unfortunately I have discovered that it's now a Trademark, so I shall use the linguistic term "idiolect". Many of us enjoy creating our own private languages, conlangs, and esolangs :) It helps us understand how the human mind processes information about the external world. Many (e.g. Esperanto, Loglan, Toki Pona, etc) have become popular among their own userbase. I myself have looked at a number of well-loved programming languages and mashed-up their (to me) must useful features into ::SHE+ILA:: (which see if you choose).
ATTENTION in AI terminology is a jargon term for "context space", for example the two uses of "Flies" and "Like" in "Time flies like an arrow, Fruit flies like a banana" had confused many LLM systems (Large Language Models). So they added an extra layer of processing, which remaps the wordspace according to surrounding words, to help LLM's understand this human language irregularity. Unfortunately the jargon redefines a number of uses of the word "Attend", as human language is desperately overloaded, making it mean "to focus on a particular contextspace" rather than the everyday usages of "to be at". So we can have Attendance, Attention, Attend, Extension, Intention, Attendancy, Tension, Tensors, and so on. Oh what a tangled Web (lol) we weave. Any etymologists? [To be continued?]
