“Your turn,” she said, her voice low and teasing as she leaned forward. Her cheeks were flushed, whether from the wine or the warmth of the fire, he couldn’t tell.
He smirked. “Truth or dare?”
She tilted her head, considering, her lips curving into a sly smile. “Dare.”
He leaned back on his hands, his gaze locking with hers. “I dare you… to come closer.”
Her laugh was soft, almost nervous, but she didn’t hesitate. She crawled forward, the rug brushing against her bare knees, until she was only inches from him. “That’s it?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Not quite,” he said, his voice dropping. “I dare you to tell me what you were thinking about when I caught you staring at me earlier.”
She sucked in a breath, her eyes darting to the fire before meeting his again. “I was thinking… about how good you look in that sweater,” she admitted, her voice trembling with a mix of courage and anticipation. “And how I wanted to take it off.”
His breath hitched, the air between them suddenly charged. “Your turn,” she said quickly, desperate to shift the focus. He grinned, his confidence unwavering. “Truth or dare?”
“Truth,” she said, her heart racing.
“Why haven’t you kissed me yet?”
Her eyes widened, and her breath caught. “Because…” She trailed off, feeling the heat of his gaze. “Because I was waiting for you to make the first move.”
He leaned in, the space between them disappearing. “No more waiting,” he murmured before his lips brushed hers. The kiss started slow, tentative, but quickly deepened as she leaned into him, her hands tangling in his sweater.
When they broke apart, their breaths were ragged, the room suddenly feeling much warmer.
“Your turn,” he whispered against her lips.
She smiled, her confidence surging as she leaned back, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “Dare,” she challenged.
“I dare you,” he said, his voice husky, “to let me take this to the next level.”
Her grin widened. “Game on.”
