More about Urban Fae folk - more pixie than faerie

This dream was inspired by a book I rediscovered on my shelf while dusting my library: it is 'Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book' written by Terry Jones (Monty Python member) and illustrated by Brian and Wendy Froud (Dark Crystal, Labyrinth). It is a wickedly entertaining work. Fortunately for you, it is available to 'borrow' online with Internet Archive: https://archive.org You have to sign up, but it is free, and you'll be able to enjoy the whole book via pdf. file.

The book was a parody inspired by the 1917 Cottingley Fairies hoax which purported to provide evidence of the existence of fairies. Wikipedia has an extensive entry on them. The fairies "appear in a series of five photographs taken by Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths, two young cousins who lived in Cottingley, near Bradford in England. In 1917, when the first two photographs were taken, Elsie was 16 years old and Frances was 9. The pictures came to the attention of writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who used them to illustrate an article on fairies he had been commissioned to write for the Christmas 1920 edition of The Strand Magazine. Doyle was enthusiastic about the photographs, and interpreted them as clear and visible evidence of supernatural phenomena."
