More about Jotham's Warning - Judges Chapter 9 Poem

In Judges Chapter 9, a tale is told,
Of Abimelech, who was both cruel and bold.
He sought to rule, with ambition so grand,
But bloodshed and treachery stained the land.
With Jotham's words, a warning was sent,
To warn the people of the discontent,
Of choosing a king who was wicked and vile,
Whose rule would bring naught but chaos and guile.
"Trees sought a king," Jotham did say,
"An olive, fig, and vine one day,
But the bramble, worthless and base,
Sought power and glory, in a treacherous chase."
The people ignored the wise advice,
And Abimelech seized the throne with vice,
A tyrant ruling with an iron hand,
But his reign was cursed, as foretold by Jotham's stand.
So, let us heed the lesson clear,
From Judges Chapter 9, it's made quite clear,
To choose our leaders with wisdom and care,
Lest we fall victim to deceit and snare.
