The burning bush is a symbol in Judaism that represents God's protection over the Israelites, even while they were suffering in Egypt. The Zohar, a Kabbalah work from the late 1200s, suggests that the burning bush was a sign that the Israelites were protected by God, similar to how the bush was burning but not consumed. The Jewish Theological Seminary of America's logo is an image of the burning bush with the phrase "and the bush was not consumed" in both English and Hebrew.
And Cody's Eye was not consumed. . .
What is the concept of the burning bush?
That is called a theophany, and it's what we see with the burning bush. In theology, such an activity as this—a bush with fire burning within it, but not being consumed—is said to be contra naturam, meaning “against nature.” It was not a natural phenomenon but a supernatural one.
