ArtistChapter 37 – The Road That Was Closed on Purpose Part 2 – The Traveller Who Was Never Supposed to Return REFERENCE IMAGES: Use CR-01a for Mara and CR-15 for the Vanished Wizard. Preserve both appearances exactly. Realistic painterly cinematic fantasy storybook illustration, 4:3 landscape. A lonely misty grassy hill beneath a pale grey sky before the Cottage existed. In the centre stands ONE freestanding BLACK DOORFRAME with an open black door, no wall or building attached. Mara and the Vanished Wizard stand on the grassy hill OUTSIDE the doorway. Mara matches CR-01a exactly. The Vanished Wizard matches CR-15 exactly and raises his twisted wooden staff toward the doorway. IMPORTANT: The doorway opens into a separate supernatural GREY DIMENSION. A narrow BLACK ROAD exists ONLY INSIDE THE RECTANGULAR DOOR OPENING. No part of the road may appear on the grassy hill outside the doorway. Inside the portal, EXACTLY SEVEN human travellers are returning toward the doorway. They form one loose group at different distances. Behind this group, much farther down the SAME BLACK ROAD, stands ONE additional EIGHTH traveller. EXACTLY: 7 travellers together in front + 1 solitary traveller far behind =============================== 8 figures inside the portal. The eighth traveller must also remain INSIDE THE RECTANGULAR DOORWAY. Do NOT place the eighth traveller beside the door, outside the portal, or on the grassy hill. The eighth traveller is a mysterious young blond woman with a narrow GREEN RIBBON around one wrist. Her face is partly hidden by grey mist and shadow. She is human, not monstrous. She resembles Mara subtly, but the resemblance must not yet be obvious. Mara watches from outside in shock. The Vanished Wizard reacts with alarm because an eighth person is returning when only seven were expected. Strong depth through the portal: Mara and Wizard on grass → doorway → group of seven → LARGE EMPTY GAP → solitary blond eighth traveller → grey distance. Keep the seven travellers relatively small so there is enough visual space behind them for the clearly separated eighth traveller. No Aven. No other foreground characters. No Cottage or buildings. No text, captions, letters or numbers. Eerie but beautiful, soft mist, volumetric light, windblown grass, realistic painterly textures, cinematic fantasy storybook atmosphere. Bottom-right: small white full-body unicorn watermark with “AI by Unicorngraphics”.

Chapter 37 – The Road That Was Closed on Purpose Part 2 – The Traveller Who Was Never Supposed to Return
The second knock faded. Nobody moved. Tiktora’s reader still showed the black line ending in the silver square. “Something answered then,” Mara said. “And something is answering now.” Sir Fegelot raised his handle. “I suggest we do not answer.” Madam Arabica’s lid clicked. “Agreed.” Aven stared at the square. “The first time there were only two knocks.” “What happened after them?” Mara asked. “I don’t know.” Memoris’s letter twitched. THE ROAD WAS OPENED FROM BOTH ENDS. Biblior frowned. “Someone opened it from the destination.” “There was nobody there,” Aven said. “That is what I remember.” The black fragment pulled toward the wall. Mara released it. It stretched into a narrow line across the floor and the wall became transparent. Beyond it stood the empty hill and the black doorway. Mara stepped closer. “Show me what happened after the knocks.” The grey distance beyond the doorway brightened. At its far end the silver point became a second doorway. The vanished wizard stood beside Mara’s earlier self. “Do not cross,” he said. Aven stared down the road. “Someone is coming.” A shadow appeared inside the distant doorway. Then another. Earlier Mara counted. “One. Two. Three.” Figures walked toward them. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Mara realised the seven figures who had stood on the hill before were gone. “They went through.” The wizard turned toward her. “And now they are coming home.” The first traveller crossed onto the hill. Memory hid the face with pale light. The second followed, then the third. Aven counted. “Four. Five. Six.” Earlier Mara stepped forward as the seventh emerged. “All of them.” The wizard kept watching the road. “Close it.” Aven reached for the doorway. Then footsteps sounded in the grey distance. Another figure was approaching. “Eight,” Mara whispered. Earlier Mara stared at it. “Who is that?” The eighth traveller moved slowly, but the distance behind it vanished too quickly. The wizard raised his staff. “Do not let it cross.” The figure stopped halfway along the road. Earlier Mara backed away. “We counted seven.” “Seven went through,” Aven said. “Then where did the eighth come from?” Memoris’s voice reached Mara from the Cottage. “The letter is changing!” Words appeared across the grey sky. THE FIRST ROAD BROUGHT THEM HOME. THEM vanished. THE FIRST ROAD BROUGHT ONE TOO MANY HOME. Mara looked at the wizard. “That is why I closed it.” “Not yet.” The eighth traveller continued. The wizard struck the threshold with his staff. Golden light spread across it, but the figure reached the doorway. Earlier Mara seized the green ribbon. “Close the road!” “We cannot,” Aven shouted. “It is being held open from the other side.” The eighth traveller stopped beyond the threshold. Mara tried to see its face, but a black blur covered it.
