King Ramses II, also known as Ramses the Great, was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who ruled Egypt from 1279 BCE to 1213 BCE. He is widely regarded as one of the most powerful and influential pharaohs in Egyptian history, and his reign was marked by significant architectural and cultural achievements. In photos and artistic representations, King Ramses II is often depicted as a tall, muscular man with a distinctive, elongated face and a prominent nose. He typically wears a traditional Egyptian headdress, known as the nemes, and a false beard. In many images, he is shown holding a crook and flail, symbols of his authority as a ruler. King Ramses II is also known for his many monumental building projects, including the temples at Abu Simbel and the Ramesseum, which feature elaborate reliefs and statues depicting the pharaoh and his exploits.
