In a realm where dreams twisted and turned, Alice found herself trapped within a haunting labyrinth of her own subconscious. The once vibrant colors of Wonderland had faded, replaced by an eerie pallor that permeated the air. As she ventured further, a sense of unease crept into her bones, for this place held no mirth or whimsy; it was a realm of raw emotion and unbridled fear.
Prompt: with a little help of Alfred Kubin
She stumbled upon a clearing, where a decrepit, ancient door hung crookedly from its hinges. The whispering grew louder, more urgent, and Alice felt an unholy presence stirring within the shadows. With a shuddering breath, she pushed open the creaking door and stepped into a realm of unending torment.
Prompt: with a little help of Alfred Kubin
Alice found herself standing at the edge of a familiar-yet-distorted rabbit hole. A chill ran down her spine as she peered into its gaping maw, no longer the playful entrance to Wonderland she remembered. The air was thick with an unsettling silence, broken only by the distant, discordant ticking of some unseen clock.
She hesitated before descending, the walls closing in around her like a coffin. The tunnel seemed endless, and the darkness pressed against her eyes, heavy and oppressive. When she finally emerged, Alice found herself in a grotesque parody of the vibrant landscape she had once known.
The flowers were wilted and black, their petals like shriveled skin, and the trees stretched out skeletal limbs towards a sky that was perpetually twilight. A sense of dread hung in the air like a foul mist, clinging to her clothes and seeping into her bones.
Alice wandered through this forsaken place, feeling more alone than she ever had before. She encountered creatures twisted by fear and despair: the Cheshire Cat, now a gaunt shadow with eyes that burned like embers; the White Rabbit, frantically checking his watch as if counting down to some terrible doom.
The Mad Hatter's tea party was a grim affair, attended by silent, motionless figures frozen in time, their smiles stretched into grotesque rictuses. The table was set with rotting food and chipped cups filled with murky liquid that smelled of decay.
At the center of it all stood the Queen of Hearts, her eyes wild and accusatory. She screamed at Alice, her voice echoing through the empty landscape, "Off with your head! You shouldn't have come here!" Her guards, playing cards with blades for teeth, advanced menacingly.
Alice fled, her heart pounding in her chest like a drumbeat of fear. She ran until she found herself back at the rabbit hole, but as she looked down into its depths, she saw only more darkness—an endless abyss of despair and existential horror.

So clear of victory
As he defeated – dying –
On whose forbidden ear
The distant strains of triumph
Burst agonized and clear!
