little tornado. A frustrated, spoilt child in adult form, wearing the
Harry Palmer 60’s look - the suit, the polonecks, glasses. This is COLIN
RANSOM, a major player in the struggles to come. Ransom is in his late
30s, the manager of Britain’s most successful band. A cross between Alan
McGee and Chris Evans, he’s a media brat for the 21st century.
Info-literate, superficially hip. He’s done drugs, he’s been through the
therapy. He has a lava lamp. And he represents one of the biggest and
most dangerous tentacles of the global conspiracy against Freedom and
Evolution. He should seem hip and connected, obsessed with the 60’s and
scared to face the future.
Prompt: Desolation Jones is around six feet tall, and skinny bordering on skeletal. He’s around thirty, but his hair’s gone grey, same grey as his eyes, and his face is getting lined already. Very pale. Hair’s getting a little wild. Big goggles and a gasmask/respirator are permanent fixtures – goggles pushed up into his hair, mask hanging around his neck. He only has one set of clothes: an orange plastic jacket, slightly too big for him, cut out from a hazmat suit: black plastic pants and heavy boots. Black t-shirt. On the inside of each forearm are tattoos; on the left inside forearm, a spiky version of the Hazmat symbol. On the right inside forearm, the words DESOLATION 01.

Prompt: And there’s our man: JOHN DASHWOOD, around 79 years of age, looking up from a desk stacked high with mouldering papers in a room thick with pipesmoke. Dashwood, in my mind, strongly resembles John Mills. He’s a young septuagenarian – maybe he looks like John Mills in QUATERMASS, old but vital. Tweedy jacket with leather patches on the elbows, thick shirt, mangled tie. Eccentric, but sharp-eyed, Looking at us over the top of glasses, maybe.
