Prompt: A highly detailed masterly contemporary ink mixed oil painting on textured archival paper, meticulously replicating Gourlay Steell's 1880 narrative scene of 'Llywelyn and his brave hound, Gelert'. The style is characterized by expressive pigment washes with precise illustrative linework, showing granulations and visible paper grain.
Central Figures & Poses:
- Prince Llywelyn (standing man): Wearing historical Welsh royal attire including a green tunic, a maroon/red hooded cloak, a patterned sash/plaid belt, and leather boots, stands with his back slightly turned, head bowed and buried deeply in his hands in profound grief and regret, unable to look. His sword is sheathed at his hip.
- Gelert (dog): A large, elegant light-colored (beige/tan) greyhound-like hound lying vulnerable and still on a rugged stone floor, possibly showing a wound, but looking up weakly at Llywelyn with sad, dying eyes, radiating loyalty despite betrayal.
Setting & Secondary Figures:
- Environment: A rustic, ancient stone castle chamber or medieval room with rough, textured walls, scattered straw, and an arched stone doorway. scattered bedding and fabrics.
- Key Objects: An empty, overturned wooden cradle lies scattered with bedding in the background, a clear symbol of the central tragedy.
- Obscured Details (Crucial): Further back in the shadows, partially obscured by bedding and darkness, lies the dark, still form of a dead wolf with bared teeth, evidence of Gelert's true loyalty and the prince's fatal mistake. A dropped hunting spear is also visible near the cradle.
Atmosphere & Lighting: Dramatic chiaroscuro lighting, perhaps from an invisible early morning window, casting strong contrasts between light and deep, granular ink mixed oil shadows, emphasizing the dramatic and somber mood. High resolution, masterful composition, with all text and watermarks removed from the visual field. Signed 'RY' in subtle black cursive script at the bottom right corner of the paper texture.
