Prompt: Metropolis, the capital city of the future, is divided in two parts: while the rich live on the surface, the workers must dwell underground. Freder, son of the ruler Johann Fredersen, goes to the "lower town" when he falls in love with Maria, the "saint of the oppressed". On behalf of the worried Fredersen, the inventor Rotwang creates a robotic double of Maria, who is supposed to tempt the workers to revolt in order to finally be able to take away all their rights.
