Ancient Text Document

• Model: Krea 2 Turbo

• Size: 1280 X 960 (1.23 MP)

• Used settings:

  • Prompt: Generate a graphic based on the following blog entry. Make it in the style of a Victorian newsprint pen and ink illustration, do not add text and the background should be a yellowed parchment colour: I knelt down and using only my dig tool, I carefully cut through the turf and flipped it over. It only took a second's pinpointing to realise what I had found: a scattering of musket balls, or lead shot. They weren't deep in the soil, which was a surprise and a relief. I could run my pin-pointer across the ground around me and hear several more targets, all clustered together. After a few focused minutes of careful extraction, I had found ten musket balls—marble sized, dull grey lead spheres—all within my arms reach. A quick scan of the surrounding pasture revealed at least a dozen more targets all giving the same tone and the same VDI number. Finding this many in one place set off my imagination. As far as I knew, there hadn't been any recorded conflicts or camps in this specific area, but I'm certainly no expert. However, I did know someone who might. Having decided to leave the rest of the targets untouched, I dug out my phone, my flask, and a mini pork pie to nosh while I checked in with the museum. Our Finds Liaison Officer (FLO) dampened my excitement a tad, noting that lead shot is a common find, but she agreed that finding this many in such a tight cluster was indeed interesting. The location was duly recorded, and we decided to leave the rest of the targets to their sleep for the moment, in case the cluster proved significant enough for further study. I was happy to do so, this tiny point in the finds database could point to a larger historical mystery someday, that’s what the database was for. Analysis of the few I brought in revealed their specific history: they were from the Post-Medieval period, dating to circa 1600–1800 and most likely for a small arms Carbine. Was this the precious load of a civilian hunter, or the prepared ammunition of a military trooper? This bore size was used by both. All showed evidence of being fired and all bore casting flashes;; the little seams left between the two halves of the original mould. They were remarkably consistent, most weighing between 18–19 grams and measuring 14-15 mm in diameter. Lead shot may be a common, perhaps even mundane find to the academic eye, but they still managed to inspire as deep sense of mystery in me as any scattered coin hoard or decorated buckle. For the rest of the afternoon, and long after, I found myself imagining the different scenarios that led to their presence here: Were they hoarded for quick retrieval in a military cache? Was some hunter or trooper thrown from his horse, his bag of precious ammunition scattered in the thick grass? The lead balls, inert and dense, would remain while the leather, thread, and the strap rotted away leaving only a cluster of shot to mark the site of the loss. Another clue lies in the cluster itself. This was a sudden loss of supply, not a single errant shot. So you see, even the most ‘common’ of finds can unlock a powerful sense of wonder and connection to the lives lived hundreds of years ago.

The scene is imbued with a sweet, nostalgic, and dreamy atmosphere, illuminated by diffused, warm volumetric lighting, high detail, anamorphic lens flare.

2 minutes to midday

• Model: ChatGPT 2

• Size: 2224 X 1668 (3.71 MP)

• Used settings:

  • Prompt: Emotional, moody, peacefulness before or after the stage. Realistic and cartoon drawing blend. Intimate, delicate, view from a distance of a woman out of sync, in a meditative or relaxed pose, going through lecture notes, either to check what she missed or to spot what she ought not to miss. She's softly pacing the antechamber to a conference room in a uni stone building who's seen history made by men of times long gone. Her arms are floating around her, one with printed paper sheets heavily annotated by hand and the other waving at no one but herself. She's focused still, or focused already, and her face is smiling but her brows are focused. She's done it before, she just needs to do it again. Brilliantly. A massive oaken door in the background, open to the amphitheater conference room, already filled with people waiting on her tp begin. A smaller wooden door, closed on the side. Windows up the high walls, otherwise ladden with tapestries and shelves stuffy with otherworldy glimmering weird artefacts from times unknown (except for her) The woman is in her end twenties early thirties, French. Auburn / dark-strawberry hair (muted, not flame-bright), half-up and coming loose. The ends of the hair are white and rainbow, remnants of eons gone (for now). Fair, warm pink-toned skin with light freckling across the nose and cheeks. Smallish, youthful, cute rather than striking, a soft, present, delicate lived-in face, not frail, not gaunt. Piercing ice grey-blue watchful eyes, jumping within the room like little specks of starlight. She's wearing a dark blue satin half-sleeved blouse with a light very long scarf of the same colour, a tight but light elegant dark skirt and lacy sandal-boots. Legs, neck, arms, dimly lit, slightly shivering. Not posing. Faint sleepless shadow under the eyes. Teal and blue mascara and liner, with a discrete touch of sparkles, rosy cheeks; a tiny drawn mark under one eye, soft and imperfect. Silver necklace, earrings and rings, fabric wristband. Modern but old palette. Academic life goes slow. Intimate and unguarded, out-of-time and timeless autumn afternoon, hidden melancholy. Masterpiece, by eryn.
