The painting opens the aftermath of an emergency landing on a recently discovered planet. A cargo spaceship has been reduced to rubble - its hull juts out at an odd angle, the cargo bay ramp is wide open. Inside the ship, shelves have collapsed, containers are scattered, and wires hang loose, sparking from time to time. A long trail in the dirt shows a rough crash site with parts of the hull and components of the ship scattered everywhere.
In front of it, a few meters from the entrance to the ship, stands the last intact escape pod, its transparent front part revealing a sleeping woman in cryo sleep, a young beautiful one, oblivious to the crash and the dilemma of her pilot.
The astronaut's face shows a mixture of relief that he is alive and worry about how to explain the situation to her when she wakes up. The landscape around them is not particularly inspiring.
