Trending, explained
Trending is worked out automatically, by the same rules for every dream. This is all of them.
Any public dream posted in the last 36 hours that has at least 10 likes.
Three things are measured. The bars show how much each one can add.
How recently the dream was active. This counts from its latest like, not from when it was posted — every new like brings it back to full strength. A dream people keep liking holds its place. One that stops getting likes fades within hours, however many it collected.
The total number of likes. Among dreams with similar momentum, more likes ranks higher.
Other people making their own dream from yours. Only the last 12 hours count, and you cannot inspire yourself. Videos get a small inspiration score based on their likes instead.
Momentum also scales the other two. A dream that has gone quiet ranks low even with a lot of likes. That is intentional: Trending shows what is catching on now.
A minor detail: dreams made with the original Deep Style, Thin Style and Deep Dream tools score 3% lower. Nothing made with any of today's models is affected.
Trending shows just your highest-ranked dream. If you post several at once, they compete with each other for that one spot.
On the first page, one dream posted half an hour to an hour earlier is shown second, so new work gets seen. It is picked from dreams submitted to Latest & Trending, with one chance per person rather than per dream, and people who aren't among the most-liked of the past two weeks go first. That is why a dream with few likes can appear near the top.
The list is rebuilt about every ten minutes, so a dream that just got likes can take a few minutes to move.
36 hours after it was posted, a dream leaves Trending however well it is doing. Trending is only ever about the last day and a half.
No account is boosted or held back by name, and nobody is on a list. Your dream is ranked by the three things above and nothing else. The one deliberate tilt is the new-dream slot in second place, which gives the people who are seen least the first turn.
