Voting design limits fake account impact since voters must rate all 40 images per batch #38
Since all voters must rate every image shown (with at least 1 point), fake accounts cannot make their own image win unless that image is also recognized as a winner by the other 1,000 plus voters. A fake account voter seeing their own image with all the fake accounts they have would only add five points per account — 5 accounts would add 25 points, hardly winner material unless most of the other voters share the enthusiasm for their images.
They must also assign scores to the other 39 images in each batch in order to move on to the end. If the system randomly selects which 40 images each voter sees, they may not even encounter their own image.
Declined: Thanks for laying this out. Voting stays as it is: the server picks each entry you rate, fewest votes first, so every entry gets about as many ratings and nobody chooses what they see. Ballots that rate nearly everything the same no longer count.
If people start scratching their heads about a statement, that is usually because of a lack of transparency or, in some cases, faulty logic. The purpose of voting is to find a legitimate winner based on the image members like the most, not simply the images they happen to be shown. Limiting what members can see may be intended to prevent manipulation, but it can also undermine confidence in the result because no one can know whether the winning image was truly the community’s favorite.
Agree, the voting system is puzzling. We get to see 40 images out of a total of 150 etc... personally have never seen the winning images when voting - so it's a very wierd way of choosing the winners. Also - the subject of the challenge should apply to all entries - judging an unrelated image makes no sense.

ad hoc_ it shows that security of the winner surpasses enjoyment of member voters. Perhaps, that will change one day. We can only hope. Personally, I don't understand this multi-accounts mentality at all. I can hardly cope with one account I have.
