Please clarify the rules on trending and inspiration points. #240

Yes I know thats why it needs to be written clearly - Members are not sure how it works now. The members are all getting different interpretations of the 5 inspiration points per member and how it affects trending. Please read all member comments in the Chat thank you.

    I think you need to define the difference between the tries that get you free points to spend, and the tries that alter your ranking. You also sais something about people needing to join in so they will get a higher ranking or whatever, so I am wondering if that means there are points for something other than people trying your images.

    DDG this my take on it please clarity if I am misunderstanding the new rules don’t affect your overall Inspiration Points. As I understand it, the limit is five Inspiration Points per week from any one individual member in Trending only.

    You can still give as many single INSPO tries as you like, and these will continue to contribute to Trending and the recipient’s reward batteries. Any additional single INSPO tries from the same member will still count towards reward batteries but not Trending, with the usual 30-day expiry applying to INSPO tries in Trending.

    My question is: How do we know when we’ve reached the five-point weekly limit for an individual member? Surely, we need some sort of counter or indicator to keep track of it.

    I’ve already raised this question with you guys at DDG in Chat because there seem to be so many different interpretations of the new rules. Everyone appears to be reading them a little differently!

    This is my understanding of how it works, anyway, but I could be wrong. It would be helpful if DDG could clarify the rules so everyone has a clear and consistent understanding of how the new system operates. Thanks Sylvia

    Correction: As I understand it, the limit is five Inspiration Points per week from any one individual member across your prompts/images in Trending only.
    For example, if one member gives me five Inspiration Points across five different images in a week, that member has reached the weekly limit for giving me contributions to Trending.
    However, this does not prevent other members from giving me single Inspiration Points. Their contributions will still count towards Trending as usual.
    This is my understanding of the rule, but clarification from DDG would be helpful to ensure we all interpret it correctly.

    We leave it up to DDG to decide how they want to proceed.
    However, I don't see the advantage. I'm more afraid that there will be a lot of people who will just take 5 pictures a week. For my part, I either work on my projects in a concentrated manner and then I don't have enough points anyway, or I distribute several pictures at once. And it probably happens to me the other way around too, since not many of my users try it. I've already noticed that, as I apparently fall below the 22IP (100th place) mark in the rankings even with 26IP. Which means that fewer users made attempts than the others. That doesn't bother me, but I do wonder how this will help new users.

    So, there are several areas/aspects that are related to or affected by "Inspirations":

    • Personal badges
    • Ranking on the leaderboard
    • The trending feed
    • Obtaining batteries

    Thanks for asking, and sorry the first post wasn't clearer. Here's how it works since 15 October:

    • Try works as before. You can try any public dream as often as you like.
    • When you press Try and generate, the artist gets an Inspiration Point, as before. The one change: one member can give the same artist at most 5 points a week. After that, their Tries still work as usual; they just don't add points to that artist until the week moves on. This applies to the points themselves, so it covers everything they're used for: the count on your profile, energy batteries and badges.
    • Top AI Artists ranks artists by how many different people tried their work in the last 30 days. That's the "creators inspired" number under each name.
    • Trending counts the Tries a dream got in the last 12 hours as a small part of its score, next to freshness and likes. A Try past the weekly 5 doesn't count there either.
    • Points you earned before 15 October stay yours.

    It doesn't limit how many dreams you post or how many you try, and you can give points to as many different artists as you like. Full details: https://deepdreamgenerator.com/inspiration-reward
