Improve member search when inviting people to private groups #222

Feature Resolved
Nori Nori · opened ·from chat

When searching for members to invite to a private group, people who share a name are hard to tell apart: the plain version of the name seems to appear before names with icons or numbers, and the list only shows about 10 matches. This can make it difficult to find the person I mean and may lead to inviting the wrong member.

Could the search show more matches, or make it easier to distinguish people — for example by showing unique usernames or other identifying details?

Resolved: Done: search by @username, and up to 30 results.

The same request as #222, which is now done.

  • #215 Sort member names by importance, showing formatted names first

Perhaps reverse the names by importance. By that I mean show names that start with a capital letter/bold lettering/numbers/icon first, and plain names last.

The same problem as #222: telling people with the same name apart in the group invite search. Fixed there with @username search and better ordering.

Done! When you invite people to a private group, you can now search by username: type @ and the start of it, for example @nori. An exact username comes first. The list now shows up to 30 people instead of about 10, and you can scroll it.
