The sun was sinking behind the treeline, its last rays stretching across the old farm like fading memories. The wooden houses, worn by years of wind and weather, stood quietly as if they, too, were listening to the silence settling over the land. The air carried the scent of late summer, soft and cool, hinting that the season was slowly slipping away. Light drifted across the rooftops, brushed the fences, and dissolved into the rising dusk.
