ArtistA detailed illustration in the style of Charles Tunnicliffe. View of a kingfisher sitting on a branch overlooking a lake fringed by trees. On the lake is a flock of ducks, In the background we see a range of chalk hills. Autumn colours.
A vibrant kingfisher with iridescent blue-green plumage on its back and head, and bright orange-brown feathers on its belly, is perched on a gnarled, bare branch of a tree, looking to the right. The bird's head is adorned with tiny white dots, and it has a long, pointed black beak with a hint of red at the base. Its right eye is visible, a small dark bead. The branch extends across the bottom third of the frame, with smaller twigs branching off. In the background, a calm lake or river reflects the warm autumn colors of the surrounding landscape. On the left bank, tall, slender trees with rich orange foliage stand out against a grassy hill. Further back, rolling hills are dotted with trees displaying various shades of orange, yellow, and green. The sky above is a clear blue with scattered white, fluffy clouds. The reflection of the trees and sky is visible in the placid water of the lake.
