To celebrate the little milestone of 200 public dreams 🥂 (not counting those that have been published but can't be public anymore), I slightly updated my profile image to (not perfectly but) better match the actual look of a hornet moth, and to be better recognizable as a moth at all. (The previous one has repeatedly been called a "bee" by the description generating AI.)
Here is a vintage-science-paper style decorated version of the new profile image.
________________
Vintage, detailed illustration of a Hornet Clearwing Moth, scientifically known as Sesia apiformis, centered on a lightly textured, aged paper background with faint spots and discolorations. The moth is depicted from a top-down, symmetrical perspective with its wings fully spread out. The head features two large, dark, compound eyes and a pair of long, feathery antennae extending upwards and outwards. The thorax is a mix of black and yellow fuzz, resembling a hornet's body. The abdomen has distinct alternating bands of bright yellow and black. The wings are translucent with prominent orange, brown, and reddish veins and margins, showcasing intricate patterns. Below the moth, centered text in a serif font reads “Sesio apiformis” on the first line and “Hornet Clearwing Moth” on the second line. The entire composition is framed by a thin, dark border resembling a vintage book plate or print.
