A traditional Chinese ink wash painting depicts the ruins of a stone building with gothic arches, overgrown with trees and vines, on a slightly elevated rocky incline. The building is made of large, light-colored stone blocks, some of which are covered in moss. In the bottom left foreground, a section of a stone wall, covered in greenery, runs diagonally upwards and to the right. The ruins rise from behind this wall, with intricate arched windows and doorways visible, some still intact while others are crumbling. The largest and most prominent arches are in the upper right, forming part of a grand structure that appears to be open to the sky. Several trees with sparse green foliage are scattered around the ruins, with their branches extending into the frame, particularly in the lower left and upper right corners. The overall color palette is muted, consisting primarily of warm beige, light green, and shades of gray for the stone. Chinese characters are written vertically in the upper left corner of the painting, and two red seals are stamped below the text and in the bottom right corner. The text describes the painting as "Tang people sketching relics," with a poem about "ancient walls, crumbling fences, deep grass and trees" and contemplating the "rain and mist of Chang'an
