There are three main types of Operator in ::SHE+ILA::
ALUops -- Arithmetic and Logical operators, for example A + B and A * B, take their lefthand and righthand operands (without altering them) and return a result;
FBIops -- Fundamental Buffer Interface operators, for example Foo <:: (1, 2, "yay", 137) and Foo << Bar, take a source operand and a destination operand, and modify or replace the contents of the destination operand by the source operand. Each FBIop can be written with either the destination on the left-hand side (e.g. Foo <:: Bar), or on the right-hand side (e.g. Bar ::> Foo). This is called the reflected form. Common examples are :-
R <:: A // Specify, i.e. assign the value of A to R
R <<[n] A // Insert the value of A into R at position n
R <-:: A // Instantiate class A as its instance R
Reduction operations
These take the form ALUop/value (for example +/(1,2,3) )
and apply ALUop to each running pair of elements in array "value", retuning the result. So. for example, +/(1,2,3) is 6 (i.e. 1+2+3).
Other operators
There are also some special-purpose operators, such as A[X] for array subscripting, F(X) for procedure calling, and so on.
::SHE+ILA:: is a homebrew retro 32bit operating system and programming language, inspired by C++, APL, and Lisp. It stands for Segmented Hierarchical Environment (the datastore, like a file system) + Interactive Language Architecture (the compiled/interpreted datapath language).
