Derain - The Walk

More about Derain - The Walk

A Derain painting depicts a man and a woman walking along a waterfront, holding hands, with a city and boats in the background under a yellow sky. The woman is on the left, wearing a black hat, a long tan coat, and a black dress with a white ruffled collar. The man on the right wears a black bowler hat, a black overcoat, a dark suit, and a red tie with a red pocket square. The waterfront path is light grey with darker grey shadows, and the water to their left is blue with white waves and several boats with masts and sails. In the distance, a city skyline with buildings and church spires is visible, and the sky is a vibrant yellow with light blue and white cloud-like formations. A tall, dark building is on the far right of the painting. The style is somewhat stylized, with sharp lines and flat colors, reminiscent of early 20th-century modern art.
