Erlik is a deity in Turkic mythology who is often associated with the underworld and the dead. He is believed to be a powerful ruler of the spirits of the underworld, and is sometimes considered a god of death and a judge of the dead.
According to legend, Erlik was created by the god Tengri as a counterpart to the good god Ülgen. While Ülgen was responsible for creating the world and all living things, Erlik was given control over the underworld and the spirits of the dead.
