Tonight is Krampusnacht. Tomorrow we will return (as will he) to his home life.
The first marketing of Krampus (as we inevitably do here in the US) was with greeting cards, called Krampuskarten. They were popular in the United States and Europe in the 1800s. The German postcard industry's boom in the 1890s helped popularize the idea that Krampus carries a basket to take children to hell. Yikes! My dreams of Krampus do NOT include a basket or trips to hell! And I do empathize with his need to cram right up until the bell tolls.
