As the final rays of dusk stretched across a rippling lake, a tiny, otherworldly creature emerged onto the shoreline. No taller than a hummingbird, it possessed translucent, jewel-like scales that shimmered with each breath. The hush of twilight settled over the water, broken only by the gentle lapping of waves. In the creature’s vast, golden eyes danced the reflection of the setting sun, each flicker of light revealing traces of curiosity and hidden wisdom.
It padded closer to the water’s edge, its delicate, filigreed ears twitching at the soft rush of the breeze. With a careful swipe of its claw, it sent moonlit ripples pulsing outward, distorting its own reflection into a swirl of liquid gold. For a heartbeat, it looked as though two creatures gazed at one another—one living, one made of mirage. In that fragile moment, time slowed.
Fireflies drifted around it like tiny lanterns, illuminating the shimmering patterns along its back. The little being let out a subtle, musical hum, and a single tear of gratitude slipped into the water. Then, as though called by an ancient promise, it turned its gaze skyward. The warm glow of golden hour gave way to starlight, and in the dreamlike hush, the small creature vanished into the deepening twilight—leaving only the gentle sound of water, and the memory of its enchanted reflection.
