The textiles trades exploited Asian workers all the way into the 1980s. Today it seems to be a global issue - - the tolerance for being a so-called slave to fashion. And there are many whose stories intersect in the United States with the textiles and fabric shops and sewing machines. Some forced to sew for a ballet and church while being ridiculed and persecuted. Some give up their children's safety to community members with alterior motives.
It is out of deep humiliation that many of us contemplate our roles in Western Society. An existence that has no clear path to freedom.
