Cody's Eye The Presence God
According to the Bible (Exodus 34), Moses's face shone because he had been in the direct presence of God on Mount Sinai. His skin absorbed and reflected God's glory—similar to how the moon reflects the sun. The glow was so intense and startling that the Israelites were afraid to approach him.
Unaware of the Glow: Moses did not know his own face was glowing until he came down the mountain and saw the reaction of the people. The Veil: Because the glowing radiance intimidated the Israelites, Moses wore a veil over his face when speaking to the public. He would remove it whenever he went back into the tent to speak with God.New Testament Perspective: In 2 Corinthians 3, the Apostle Paul notes that the glow was a representation of God's glory, but that the radiance was temporary and faded over time.
