Legend has it that the Egyptian God Thoth (considered the God of wisdom) gave his people papyrus sheets of pure gold that contained the great secrets of humanity. This gift was contained in a box and thrown to the bottom of the Nile River. Around the year 2,600 BC. C. 78 sheets of gold were found inside a pyramid in Giza, on the outskirts of Cairo. The great king of Egypt Hermes came to be considered the incarnation of said God. These sheets are the origin of the tarot cards. The major arcana are believed to have been the work of Hermes. Many of the symbols that appear in the book of Thoth are believed to come from civilizations that populated the Earth almost eighty centuries ago and left their mark with those engravings.
