ArtistA well-built Roman-style road running through a lush countryside with fields of grain on one side and a forest of giant trees with enormous broad leaves on the other. Sitting on the leaves of the giant trees are giant aphids that suck the sap from the leaves. An anthropomorphic ant in Roman-style shepheard's clothing stands underneath the trees guarding the aphids. On the road, a large, elegant, closed carriage pulled by two iridescent blue beetles and guided by an anthropomorphic ant in a Roman-style livery.
Queen Formica offers them one of her carriages for the journey north. Before they leave, they purchase or borrow a number of books on Big-Antium and the region it lies in. They read as they travel along the well-maintained Antonesian roads, passing neatly kept fields and stopping occasionally to admire the sights such as the herds of giant aphids that produce Antonesia's most lucrative export-product, honeydew.
The books inform them that Big-Antium used to be the capital of a the small kingdom of Antium, which was absorbed by Antonesia centuries ago. The books claim this happened when the then king of Antonesia married the only daughter of the king of Antium, merging the two countries peacefully. A cousin of the new queen of Antonesia and Antium, then became the Lord of Antium. Antium is well-known for its glass industry. They produce bottles, tableware and beads in a large variety of colors.
