Home for Christmas #6
Snow whispers soft beneath his feet,
A soldier home, the war’s retreat.
His coat is worn, his face is tired,
Yet in his chest, hope burns inspired.
The glow of lights, the scent of pine,
A mother’s hug, a toast with wine.
The quiet peace of hearth and flame,
A gift for one who left in pain.
For battles rage and hearts may break,
But love endures, for heaven’s sake.
And in the silence, he can hear,
The song of Christmas drawing near.
