An incomplete Modern copper alloy costume jewellery brooch, dating to c AD 1900-1950. It is in two main parts, a flat oval base and a shallow hollow domed oval decorated outer surface, possibly in the form of an eye. The hinge, a rolled tube on a small plate, has been applied separately to one narrower end and a feature opposite, lost in corrosion, appears to have been a type of catch plate. The 'eye' is on the dome, open eyelids shown by a transverse pair of ridges shaped as a pointed oval, and the 'pupil' as an incuse oval within that. All probably repoussé stamped into the metal. The pupil apparently had a stone or paste within it surrounded by its own pair of ridges and pellets. There are also pellets on part of the edge of dome. The find appears to be imitating a human eye in design, which would usually be worn horizontally.
