This child of Nephilim is passing through the curtain between alternate realities, which makes her sad for all those who will never be born because her very presence changes a reality's trajectory. Her brother says, "Others are born in their stead, you know that - and anyway you're one of the good ones, you make the dreariest civilization better, turning their shared trajectory toward the light."
