Ruth is a Moabite woman who marries a Judean immigrant named Mahlon (1:1–4; 4:10). Upon his death she becomes a childless widow who chooses to accompany her mother-in-law, Naomi, to Judah. Naomi protests the decision (1:11–13), but Ruth perseveres.
What was special about Ruth in the Bible?
She is known for her faithfulness, loyalty, virtue, and love. The characteristics of Ruth in the Bible also include her being a hard worker, and someone who takes care of those around her. As women, we can look up to Ruth as an example of goodness and someone worth emulating.
