Prompt

A whimsical picture book illustration of a grand castle kitchen frozen in time. A furious cook stands mid-swing, his wooden spoon raised high, about to strike a frightened kitchen boy who cowers beside a table. Both figures are suddenly asleep, their bodies halted in mid-motion, eyes closed. Pots simmer silently on the hearth, a knife hangs suspended mid-fall, and a cat sleeps curled beside a basket of vegetables. Sunlight streams through a high window, illuminating floating dust and steam, emphasizing the magical stillness. The scene feels enchanted, surreal, and quietly humorous. Style by Anton Pieck × Leo and Diane Dillon.

More about Sleeping Beauty - Dornröschen

A king and queen longed for a child. Finally, a frog in the queen's bath prophesied the birth. For the celebration, twelve fairies were summoned to bless the girl, but a thirteenth was overlooked, as there was no gold plate left for her. She burst in and cursed her to die by the prick of a spindle in her fifteenth year. However, one fairy had not yet spoken her blessing and softened the death to a hundred-year sleep. The king ordered all the spindles to be burned. At fifteen, with her parents gone, the girl found an old woman spinning in a castle tower, reached for the spindle, pricked herself, and fell asleep. Everyone and everything in the castle slept too, and thick thorns grew all around. The princess was known as Sleeping Beauty, but princes who sought her died miserably in the thorns. When a hundred years had passed, another prince heard of her; the thorns were flowers, and they welcomed him in. Sleeping Beauty awoke from his kiss, and everyone awakened and celebrated the wedding.
