The censorship on DDG is becoming increasingly absurd:
First, we’re presented with image generators that were quite obviously trained on a vast number of nude images and even hardcore pornography; consequently, we frequently get results that are highly suggestive or display unintended nudity.
To prevent the site from devolving into an AI porn hub, publishing rules were established. But since that apparently wasn't enough—and implementing a simple NSFW button is apparently waaaaay too difficult—the admin spent months tinkering with a completely ludicrous content moderation system.
It’s totally inconsistent, blocks words seemingly at random, sniffs out pornography in the most harmless phrases, and ruins the fun for all of us.
This leads to completely absurd situations—for example: I want my images to be less sexualized, so I try to reduce the size of my avatar's ample bust. But any attempt to include that directly in the prompt gets blocked by the moderation system! And even when I manage to use careful and even redundant descriptions, I still end up with an avatar with a huge bosom! So, even when I want less sexualized content, the content moderation and the model itself prevent it!!!
And if I finally do manage to get an image I can live with, the snitches and censors show up and ruin whatever fun was left...
