Awe in the Arched Chamber

More about Awe in the Arched Chamber

Two women dressed in monastic habits are in a dimly lit, arched chamber. One woman kneels on the polished wooden floor, looking upwards with an expression of awe, her hands clasped. The other woman stands over her, looking down with a serene expression. Both women wear plain, long-sleeved, earth-toned robes with hoods. The scene is illuminated by a warm, golden light emanating from an unseen source above and to the left, creating strong shadows and highlighting dust motes in the air. Candles flicker on an ornate wooden mantelpiece to the left, where a small sculpture is also visible. More candles are on a smaller table to the right, beneath a framed portrait of a man, possibly Jesus. The atmosphere is solemn and spiritual.
