Three penguins, two adults and one chick, are standing on a small, smooth ice floe in a vast, calm body of water. The ice floe is somewhat rectangular with rounded edges and reflects the blurred colors of the sky and the water below. The water is a dark, glassy blue with hints of peach and orange from a distant sunset or sunrise, suggesting either dawn or dusk. Scattered in the background are out-of-focus pieces of ice or icebergs. The sky transitions from a deep, dark blue at the top to lighter blues and a pale orange or peach closer to the horizon.
The chick is positioned on the left side of the ice floe, facing forward and slightly to the right with a curious expression. It is small and fluffy, mostly grayish-brown with a white belly and a black tear-shaped marking under its eyes. Its flippers are positioned slightly away from its body.
