Poem by Valley Flower

Lighted by the Fireflies glimmer
and the summer moon's pale light
By the mystic winding river
There is revelry tonight!
Here upon their reed pipes playing
are the tiny elfin band,
There upon a toadstool sitting
is the king
of fairyland.
Guests arrive in dainty barges
made of water lily leaves
For their sails
are spread the cobwebs
that the garden spider
weaves.
Merrily the hours are speeding,
See the gallant swords shine bright
while the ladies
through their arches
gaily trip
with footsteps light,
but then along
the eastern horizon
it shows the faintest
tinge of dawn
and without
a sign or warning
all the fairy troop
are gone!

FAERIES AND MUSHROOMS
WHAT’S THE CONNECTION?
WELL, WHEN THE POEM MENTIONS…

There upon a toadstool sitting
is the KING of fairyland…

THIS REMINDS ME…
THAT…

Besides
the
FACT

FUNGI
are a
KINGDOM
all of their own
and,
it is one that
RULES ALL LIFE
on land.

frogs and toads
can
actually benefit
from sitting upon a toadstool
for
DECOMPOSING MUSHROOMS
attract insects
which then makes for an easy lunch
that is delivered right to them!

Meanwhile, just so you know, all of the fairy poems
shared were gathered (some written by me) a few years prior
to discovering Paul Stamets and his mushroom work. At the time
I was trying to connect, especially children, to nature with
a bit of fun by incorporating fairies, along with nature activities.

Then, when I discovered Paul Stamets and his work with mushrooms,
I thought in a way, I had discovered a holy grail to many of our environmental
problems, which has always been a core interest of mine.

This influence from Paul Stamets began around 2010 to the present.
However, because of one interview which I thought was not
in his usual style of being straight upfront, in fact, appeared to be
over-acting, I began to question the ground upon which he stood.

The following link I think gives a fair assessment and balance to all
in his regard, so perhaps, in the end, we may not throw out the baby
with the bathwater.
