Many millennia ago, in the black age before record and mercy, there rose an ancient malignant predator that ruled the galactic deep like a curse given flesh. It was no mere empire, nor beast, but a top predator of such terrible completeness that nothing in its path survived long enough to name what had destroyed it. Its dominion was written in absence: shattered worlds, silent fleets, and entire civilisations erased so utterly that no witness, as far as anyone knows, endured to tell the tale. Its weapons were as fearsome as its nature. Rayguns spat searing bolts of coherent destruction, quick and precise as an executioner’s glance. Plasma beams roared through void and armour alike, flooding battlefields with star-hot annihilation that melted gates, hulls, and living tissue into boiling ruin. Particle beams struck with almost surgical inevitability, penetrating defences by turning the very structure of matter against itself. And when subtler ruin was required, it unleashed railgun pellets made of antimatter—small, merciless projectiles whose impact did not merely puncture but unmade, producing catastrophic bursts of matter-antimatter release on contact. It was a civilization of predation at cosmic scale: technologically supreme, biologically or mechanically perfected for slaughter, and so utterly lethal that its legacy survives only as a dark rumor in the bones of the galaxy.
