ArtistA woman trying to hold steady and strong upon the ground while all around her a hurricane tornado whirls all violently.
You whirl
around me
like the greatest
of tempest
with a terrible
beauty
significant
to behold,
assured
of your own
presence
and viewpoints,
battering
against my own
in a way
to dissever
and twist
them to comply
with your own—
I could accuse you
of a violence
of the heart
and mind,
more, for
there are many
who hold witness
and stand
on the same
ground
in the light
of the sun.

In response, and inspired by a poem within the book, THE GIFT, Poems by HAFIZ, The Great Sufi Master, Translations by Daniel Ladinsky.
Certainly not to say I am a master or even an apprentice in any way of poetry or mystical insight—all is simply a creative endeavor to see what my own mind and heart may say of the poem, to try and put it into my own words, or simply to respond to the ideas set forth by HAFIZ, and translated by Daniel.
