ArtistThe lower half of one of the bamboo plants (image 1), including the base and roots, has grown swollen and bloated, making its diameter three times as wide as the diameter of the top half of the plant. The bottom half of the plant has become very round, compared with the top half (image 2). The bamboo is a light green color. Everything in the picture is photographic.
A vertical, low-angle, full-shot of a surreal, massive, light green, spherical, onion-like base of a bamboo stalk centered in the foreground. The bamboo trunk emerges from the top of the bulbous growth, extending upwards into a dense bamboo forest. The base sits on dark, damp soil mixed with scattered brown, dried bamboo leaves and sparse green weeds at the bottom. A dense network of thick, pale, exposed roots radiates outwards from the base of the sphere into the soil. The background is filled with a myriad of slender, tall, straight green bamboo stalks fading into the soft, overcast, filtered light of the forest canopy, creating a deep sense of perspective and depth of field.
