The Northern Lights and icebergs at night.hand drawing in pencil with nervous lines and vivid cold colors
A pen-and-ink drawing features an aurora borealis dancing in the sky above a polar landscape. The entire scene is depicted using only blue, green, and black pen strokes, creating a cross-hatched, linear texture throughout the artwork. The aurora sweeps across the night sky, its tendrils and waves rendered in vibrant shades of green and purple against a dark blue background filled with fine, vertical hatching lines that suggest distant stars or the texture of the night. Below, a large, jagged iceberg dominates the right side of the composition, composed of sharp geometric facets outlined in dark blue ink with lighter areas left white to indicate highlights. This iceberg is reflected in the dark, calm water below, which also captures the green and blue light of the aurora. Smaller icebergs and floating ice chunks are scattered across the water, leading the eye toward a distant mountain range on the horizon. The overall style is expressive and illustrative, characterized by the dense and overlapping ink lines that give depth and movement to both the sky and the water.
